The Vision for the Future - IHYC Clubhouse Rebuild

IHYC has a forward-thinking committee and in 2018, we developed a long-term Club Strategy to consolidate and grow as a community water sports club at Indented Head.

During 2019 - 2023, IHYC implemented :

  • Safety improvements for volunteers and sailors, purchasing equipment and training our volunteers

  • Grew the Wreck2Reef swim to record numbers and continued to provide an excellent Learn2Sail program

  • Introduced the Sail Bellarine regatta, a hugely successful sailing event, held annually in May

  • Broadened membership to include swimmers and welcomed the inclusion of the Salty B!tches.

As part of the Strategy, IHYC has a vision for the clubhouse being:

By 2030, the IHYC clubhouse will be a multi-purpose facility supporting sailing, swimming, boating and locals. The facility will cater to people of all ages and meet the growing needs of members for the next 30 years.

During 2023 - 24, IHYC worked with architects to develop a conceptual plan for a two-stage rebuild. For reasons of scale, IHYC is focusing on Stage 1, which will rebuild the rear of the clubhouse for all equipment storage and increase the change facilities, making them gender equitable. The rebuild also enables IHYC to repurpose the front of the clubhouse for people and activity.
